The Journey

Born in the midst of civil unrest in Uganda, Isaiah Katumwa discovered the saxophone at age 10. With no parents and limited resources, he taught himself to master the instrument through sheer determination and an unwavering belief in the power of music.
Today, Isaiah is recognized as Uganda's "father of jazz" and has created a unique musical style he calls "Afro Smooth Jazz Fusion" - a sound that bridges continents and generations. His collaborations with international legends like Dave Koz, Kirk Whalum, and Hugh Masekela have cemented his place on the global stage.
"Music became my voice when I had none. It taught me that limitation is only a perspective."
