The New Jersey based saxophonist  picked up the saxophone at just ten years old in Uganda – not in a conservatory, but through resilience, faith, and self-teaching. At a young age and raised with limited resources, he turned adversity into artistry, developing a sound that would one day carry him from the streets of Kampala to international stages.

Today, Isaiah Katumwa is recognized as one of Africa’s pioneering smooth jazz voices. With a signature tone that blends African soul, contemporary jazz, gospel roots, and global polish, he has shared stages with internationally acclaimed artists like Angelique Kidjo, Dave Koz, Manu Dibango, Jonathan Butler, Hugh Masekela, and Kirk Whalum, and performed across the United States, Europe, and Africa.
